If you should have an accident you are usually involved with another driver who has the legal amount of insurance required for the UK. In this day and age there are apparently two million drivers who are on our roads that do not have insurance. These people cause your car insurance premiums to be around £30 more expensive than they need to be.
Should you be unlucky enough to encounter one of these uninsured motorists in an accident, the MIB (Motor Insurers Bureau) is the organisation you need to be dealing with. The MIB was set up for victims that have been in an accident with uninsured drivers. The MIB will compensate you and then take action against the uninsured party by pursuing them and reclaiming throught the courts the compensation made to the victim.
